Sabawon (NGO)

Cross Cutting Themes

SABAWON integrates the following cross-cutting themes across all development and humanitarian programs to ensure quality, inclusion, accountability, transparency and long-term impact.

Cross Cutting Themes

Climate Change

Climate change is a major driver of vulnerability in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. SABAWON integrates climate risk analysis across all sectors, recognizing the increasing frequency of floods, heatwaves, landslides, and climate-induced displacement.

Programs are designed to reduce exposure to climate risks through resilient infrastructure, climate-sensitive livelihoods, water conservation, preparedness planning, and early recovery approaches. Climate adaptation and resilience considerations are embedded in needs assessments, project design, and implementation, ensuring that interventions address both immediate needs and long-term vulnerability.

Cross Cutting Themes

Protection, Safeguarding, and PSEA

SABAWON is committed to protecting the dignity, safety, and rights of all individuals engaged in or affected by its programs. Safeguarding and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) are integrated across all operations, particularly in humanitarian and emergency contexts.

The organization enforces a zero-tolerance policy for exploitation, abuse, and harassment. Staff, partners, and volunteers are bound by codes of conduct, and reporting mechanisms are in place to ensure safe, confidential, and timely response to concerns.

Cross Cutting Themes

Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)

Gender equality and social inclusion are central to SABAWON’s approach. Programs are designed to address structural inequalities and ensure equitable access for women, girls, persons with disabilities, older persons, and other marginalized groups.

Gender and inclusion analysis informs project design, implementation, and monitoring. SABAWON promotes meaningful participation, leadership, and decision-making by marginalized groups while addressing social norms that limit access to services and opportunities.

Cross Cutting Themes

Communications

SABAWON values clear, ethical, and responsible communication. The organization documents program results, lessons learned, and good practices to support learning, visibility, and advocacy.

Communications are guided by principles of accuracy, dignity, and consent, particularly when engaging with vulnerable populations. Knowledge generated through programs is used to inform policy dialogue, partnerships, and future programming.
